I have been so busy lately that I haven't had a lot of time for the reading, but now it's game on while I wait for new shows to start!
As part of my 26 Things Before 27 list, I wanted to read three classic books, so here are some I am attempting to tackle:
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - Never read it, I can't believe it! I have, however, seen the movie with the delightful (young) Christian Bale, Winona Rider, Kirsten Dunst, and Susan Sarandon (highly recommend it)
Sense and Sensibility and/or Emma by Jane Austin – I've read Pride and Prejudice, but never these two so I figured it was about time!
Alice's Adentures in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll – Again, never read them. Pretty slack considering the name of my blog!
**In case you don't know, if you have an iPad, you will be happy to hear that a lot of classic books are available on iBooks for free! Get your classics on, people! **
Also, I ordered a few on The Book Depository. Firstly, because they have really good prices and, secondly, FREE SHIPPING. I love free shipping (or, apparently, just free things in general). I know Marilyn said diamonds are a girl's best friend, but I think she was wrong. Free shipping is a girl's best friend. And books come a pretty close second.
So the three I got online are:
Airmail by Naomi Bulger - I know Naomi through the wonderful world of blogging – we are mutual admirers – and when I was a bit sad that I didn't win her amazing giveaway that included her book, Airmail, I thought, dag namit, I'll just buy it myself! And so I did. Also, do check out her blog – she likes mail, just like me!
My Booky Wook by Russell Brand - I'm a bit behind the crowd with this one, seeing as Russell is onto My Booky Wook two but I have consistently heard so much about this book, I thought I may as well start from the beginning!
The Help by Kathryn Stockett - Because I was working too much to find the time to see the movie and because it looked like an interesting story (plus who can say no to a $5 book?)
Also, I have kind of a feeling that it's about that time to read the Harry Potter series again. Just cos.
Stay tuned to hear how the above go, and please feel free to recommend anything good you've read lately – always looking for new stuff to read! Ooh also, got a giveaway coming up in the next couple of days so check back for that too!
