I have been meaning to do this post for SO long, but for some reason I keep thinking I need more time to put it together – ie I have been procrastinating.

As I have mentioned a couple of times (here, here, and here, for example), Bailey and I recently moved to Sydney. It was kind of a hard decision and a simple decision at the same time but, I think, ultimately it was something that we had to do.

Since I was in high school, I have wanted to work in film and television and although there has been some TV work there over the years in Brisbane, it has been sporadic and unreliable. After three years of having work some months, and then no work for the rest of the year, and then a pretty horrible experience at a small production company last year, I finally decided that I had to try something new if this was a career I wanted to really pursue.

Bailey runs his own business and he was finding that Brisbane was just too slow moving and not willing to take a chance on something new. I think I probably didn't give him much of a choice because I basically said, I'm moving to Sydney, so really his only options were to come along for the ride, or live in Brisbane without me – clearly there was no choice to be made! So we started to make plans to move to Sydney, and by that I mean, not renewing our lease in November and just winging it from there.

The difficulty was that we have both lived in Brisbane our entire lives. Our families live in Brisbane, our friends, and everything we know. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal moving to another state, only a one-hour plane ride away. But once we decided to go, there was SO MUCH to do that we just hadn't considered. Not to mention moving somewhere where you don't know which suburbs are good and which are dodgy, where we would go to the doctor/dentist/chiro/hairdresser…and really not knowing anything or anyone at all!

We came down for a week and did as much tourist sightseeing as we could. We literally went everywhere we could think of in Sydney!

Then Bailey went back to Brisbane and I stayed with some friends for a couple of weeks, hoping that I would find us somewhere to live so he could come back down as soon as possible! Lucky for me I had a job lined up here straight away and, within about two weeks, a place opened up for us through a friend of my mum's friend and, in no time, Bailey was down here with all our stuff and our car – crazy! It all just fell into place.

Three months in and we still sometimes can't believe that we live in Sydney. It's funny, the whole time I lived in Brisbane, I never thought Sydney was anything special. But it is. I kind of wish I hated it here because I miss my family and my bestie SO much…but there is so much to do here, so much to see, and so much TV work – I can't even explain it!

And one thing that being here has made me realise – there are so many other places around the world that I haven't been yet, I really need to check them out! Next stop….New York ;)
