Hello everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend. Sunday and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the relaxed vibe of Sunday but I hate that it means the weekend is nearly over and it's back to work tomorrow.

One thing I love to do on Sundays is bake and I just wanted to bring Saved By Cake by Marian Keyes to your attention in case you missed it on Friday!! I mentioned this in my Favourite Things but decided today that it deserved its own post because the more I read, the more I love the whole idea of it (plus, I really want to give you a copy!)

This cake recipe book comes from the brain of the wonderful Marian Keyes. She writes some great books (may I recommend This Charming Man, Rachel On Holidays, and her short story anthology Under The Duvet. She loves a bit of chick lit but there is a darker side to her stories that I find interesting.

What makes this cookbook different to other cookbooks is Marian's story about how she had a nervous breakdown a couple of years ago and baking was (and is) the only thing that helps her. The story she tells in the prologue is quite sad, especially as she is a writer I already love. Everyone has down times – some more than others – and reading about what she's been through puts things into perspective.

There are over 80 recipes in this book and what I like is that it has Marian's style all over it – even when giving tips on baking. She claims to have done little baking or anything 'crafty' before she first started and that if she can do it, anyone can – I like that, it inspires confidence that I can give anything in there a go. And there is a lot in there that I want to try out.

So much that I am thinking I'm going to try and bake every recipe over the next year and give as much away as possible, something that Marian has had to do with her baking because she makes so much that she can't possibly eat it all – so stay tuned to see how I go, I promise to provide updates and if you're nearby, you might even get to try some!

The other thing is that I was so inspired by the giving away aspect, that I wanted to give a copy of Saved By Cake. After all, cake should make everyone happy – it definitely makes me happy – and I wanted to share that with you.

So, if you haven't already, this is how you enter:

I liked on Facebook AND subscribed on here :D my favourite cake is this sponge / caramello / rolo / cream cake thing that my grandma makes. I don’t think it’s ever had a name but it’s so amazingly yummy and even though it takes a bit of effort to make, she makes it on special occasions because she knows I love it so much :D
