I spend WAY too much time on Etsy. I try to convince myself that it's because I'm trying to buy handmade things this year and support small businesses, but really it's just because I'm completely in love with finding some really great stuff that is original. Here are some of my sweet finds from this week – I'm getting my geek chic on… Check them out and support small, handmade businesses! Heart in a Jar by Kivaford Steampunk USB by… Read more »

Last week my first blog love post was Elsie Flannigan's A Beautiful Mess and this week I decided to feature her sister Emma's blog, From Scratch, because it is focused on something that is close to my heart – tasty food! Thin Mint Cookies Elsie and Emma work together at Elsie's vintage store, Red Velvet where Emma runs her own sweets counter (dream jobs, if you ask me!) Every couple of days, Emma posts recipes on her blog of the… Read more »

I love Australia, don't get me wrong, but I think one thing that really disappoints me is that we don't support our own local talent enough – and we have a lot of it. We get too caught up in American culture or terrible viral sensations (eg Rebecca Black – if you don't know who I'm talking about, you're lucky) and sometimes forget about our home grown talent. Image from here I have loved Brissie band, The Butterfly Effect, since… Read more »

I kind of started something yesterday and I feel inclined to continue it – I don't want to spark family conflict by e-favouring any family member over another, but this lady deserves a shout out regardless! My mum oozes class, style, and an optimistic outlook that anyone would envy (see above for any evidence you might need). When I grow up, if I am half as fabulous as she is, I will feel as though I have done her proud…. Read more »

I have had the fortune to have grown up with my grandparents. I know lots of people aren't so lucky and I will always remember how special that is. The 2nd and 3rd of April are always a special two days because they are the celebration of my grandfather's birthday and his daughter's birthday (or, more importantly, my mother). We always manage to get together and celebrate it is some kind of way – usually resulting in one of my… Read more »

I have officially lived in Sydney for just over 10 weeks now and I really like it here (more on that to come), but this week I've been thinking a lot about Brisbane. Queensland has done it pretty tough in the past few months but even from down here I can see that our (usually) Sunshine State is starting to get back on its feet. How I would so love to go home for the weekend and enjoy the little… Read more »

If you haven't already realised, I am a bit of a geeky, quirky nerd. I used to be so terrified of what people thought of me, but these days I just embrace and know that the people who really love me will love me regardless of my total dorkiness – like, for example, my rediscovering So You Think You Can Dance and loving it more than anything else on TV right now! Alongside Glee (minus the terrible 'story lines') Dance… Read more »

Oh I have been unbelievably, unintentionally lazy this week with my writing but trust me, this is not for want of trying! I have sat at the computer every night to try and write but nothing has been coming to me – or the things that have are just going to take a little more preparation than I've had time for this week. Can anyone say 60 hour work week? OUCH! I also have been spending an inordinate amount of… Read more »

Dedicated readers of my blog (hey Mum and Dad) may have noticed on my 26 Things to Do Before 27 list that I have committed to taking a photo a day for a year, also known as Photo A Day. Due to my silly sentimental side, I decided to start my Photo A Day on my 26th birthday, thus documenting an entire year of my life. My 26th Birthday Whilst I have managed to commit to this so far for… Read more »
