Finding the joy in the little things is something that really means a lot to me and has started to resonate with me since I really delved into what I want Through My Looking Glass to be about.
In life – especially in the 21st Century – we have become SO busy and started to place so much importance on THINGS.
I'm not an expert on "the little things' but it's definitely something I am hoping to work on and I hope that you will get something out of it too!
1 – Do something that you really love doing
I had some free time this week so I took myself off to sushi and the movies. It's something I rarely do any more and it was so enjoyable to not have to work to anyone else's schedule (or film preferences!)
What's something you love to do but NEVER allow time to do? Big or small, make time this week to spend time ON YOUR OWN doing something you really love.
2 – Find joy in your every day surroundings.
I discovered a beautiful bushy path that I walked almost every day for the past two weeks. It just took me a while to really NOTICE the beauty.
Is there a path that you walk every day? Get your phone out one day this week and find something beautiful to photograph and post on Instagram (be sure to tag me @miss_kms)
3 – Connect with someone and send them some joy – it will come back to you
I have been obsessively watching The Feminine Business Model telejam's organised by Tracy Lee Jones and I just felt the URGE this week to email her and tell her how wonderful they are. She emailed me back telling me I'd made her night which, in turn, made MY night.
Is there someone you admire and haven't had the courage to tell? DO IT! Email, text, or tell someone this week that you love what they do. You have NOTHING to lose – everyone loves to hear that what they do means something!
4 – Treat yourself sometimes – and don't feel guilty
In our culture, we tend to obsess about weight and eating healthy all the time. Bailey bought us the most amazing home made gelato this week – it was incredible – and even though I'm trying SO HARD to be good, I had a bit.
Treat yourself to a LITTLE something yummy every once in a while – guilt free! Keep your portions small and stick to high quality ingredients (none of those Arnott's Family Biscuits).
5 – Write down moments of inspiration or joy
I've been absorbing so many books and articles and videos lately that my Moleskine notebook is bursting with notes. i find writing down inspiring things I pick up along the way helps me absorb them, remember them, and I can come back to them any time I want to.
Instead of collecting material items, try collecting thoughts and ideas in a notebook. It is surprisingly enjoyable finding things worthy of your notebook and it is great to be able to refer back to them any time you need pepping up a little.

Have a great week!
